Dotball ("the app", "we", "us") is a strategy game for iOS and Android. We respect your privacy and collect only the minimum data needed to make the game work. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. The same practices apply on both platforms; where a step differs (for example, the ad-settings screen), we note the iOS and Android versions separately.
Information We Collect
- Anonymous account identifier. The first time you start an online multiplayer game (by creating or joining a match), we create an anonymous account through our backend provider (Supabase). This is a random identifier — it is not linked to your name, email, phone number, Apple ID, or Google account, and you are never asked to sign up. If you only play offline, no account is created.
- Display name. A nickname you optionally choose for online play. You control this and can change it at any time.
- Gameplay data. For online multiplayer, we store game state such as moves, match results, and invite codes so the two players stay in sync.
- On-device settings. Preferences like sound, difficulty, and offline game credits are stored locally on your device and are not sent to us.
Advertising
Dotball is free to play and supported by ads shown through Google AdMob, our advertising provider. To serve ads, AdMob may collect device and usage information, including your device's advertising identifier (the IDFA on iOS, or the Google Advertising ID on Android). Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy, its Partner Privacy Policy, and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Personalized vs. non-personalized ads. Where permitted, we show personalized ads (tailored to your interests). You can choose non-personalized ads instead — these are not targeted using your advertising identifier. Either way, the app stays free to play.
Your choices.
- iOS — App Tracking Transparency (ATT). When you first open Dotball on iOS, the system asks whether you allow tracking. You can decline, and you can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android — Advertising ID. You can reset or delete your Google Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your device).
- EU / EEA / UK users. On first launch you are asked to consent to personalized ads. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time within the app: Settings → Manage Privacy Choices. This applies on both iOS and Android.
How We Use Data
- To run online multiplayer matches and keep both players in sync.
- To display the nickname you chose to your opponent.
- To serve and measure ads through Google AdMob.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles ourselves.
Data Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that make the app function: Supabase (backend, hosts anonymous account and gameplay data) and Google AdMob (advertising). We do not share your data with any other third parties.
Data Retention
Gameplay and account data are retained while your anonymous account is active. Completed and abandoned online games are periodically cleaned up. If you delete and reinstall the app, a new anonymous identifier is created and the previous one is no longer associated with you.
Children's Privacy
Dotball is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
- iOS: adjust ad tracking via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: reset your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization via Settings → Google → Ads.
- EU / EEA / UK: change your ad consent any time in Dotball Settings → Manage Privacy Choices.
- Reset your anonymous identifier by deleting and reinstalling the app.
